The best place for hotdogs and burgers! I drive 30 minutes out of my way to eat at this place! The staff is always funny and friendly and the food is amazing! Hotdogs and hamburgers sounds like a pretty limited menu but don't be fooled. They have a full menu! There are a few other things aside from dogs and burgers too. Great fries!

Asked my wife if she wanted to get a hot dog. She asked where and I wouldn't tell her. I wasn't sure she'd go. We pulled in and she said, "well, this will be interesting." As you can guess by the other reviews, it is a road side converted trailer with an awning in front to provide shade for the plastic furniture seatings. Wrapped around the awning are those blue, green, and yellow triangle flag lines you see at most car dealerships. Parking: There are about 7 parking spaces in front as you pull off the road. I imagine you can park, if those are full, next door and walk over. The Menu: A full up hot dog menu to give you a lot of choices. It shows different sauces, regular and foot longs for the dogs, sides and cans of soda to drink. Food: I had a foot long Chicago dog full up (with hot peppers). Chicago dogs are beef hot dogs, with bright green Chicago relish, onions, mustard, sport peppers, tomatoes, a quarter dill pickle covering it and celery salt. Although the bun should be a steamed poppy seed bun, my bun was not poppy seed. (ketchup is not acceptable). My wife, being from West Virginia, had the West Virginia dog, which included a load of sauerkraut and the coney sauce. Having just retired from a job I had in the Chicago area, I know Chicago dogs. My favorite place for a Chicago dog is either Portillo's (any of the locations) or SuperDawg (on N Milwaukee). This Chicago dog was good, almost as good. However, a plus is the special ambiance. Had a good talk with both the cashier (I believe she is Pudgee's wife) and Pudgee (the cook) myself. Good people. Go back: Yupp. definitely. I want to try my other Chicago food weakness-Italian Beef sandwich.

Pudgee's is an old trailer converted to a hot dog/burger stand in Floral City with mismatched aged discount plastic patio furniture for seating. This is not fine dining. No shirt, no shoes, no problem sums it up, but the food is very good for what it aims to be. They offer a wide variety of hot dogs from well known national providers in a wide variety of styles. I had the Florida Swamp Dog with sport peppers and sauerkraut added with a Vienna Beef dog, and it was very good. The fries were natural cut, come served in a half sized paper bag that serves as the serving container, and were outstanding. Great flavor, not overly greasy or salty. One downside is on a hot Central Florida afternoon getting a soda that would best be described as "slightly cooled" was a bit of a disappointment. Worth grabbing a hot dog or burger from if you are in the area and not looking for fine dining. Of course if you are looking for fine dining in Floral City you may have larger issues than where to eat.

Pudgee's is held in high esteem by the locals. We asked two for directions, and each spontaneously recommended the hot dogs. The staff at Pudgee's are solidly in the boiled wiener / steamed roll school of hot dog prep. I can respect this philosophy. However, I was brought up to believe that dogs should be grilled if possible, else sautéed or broiled. Rolls, of course, should be toasted or grilled. As you can imagine, I kept my views to myself as we ordered an Original Coney, a Florida Swamp Dog, and what Pudgee's menu terms "1 Handfull of Fries." Whoever measured out the defining handful must have been in the NBA. The fries are hand cut and beautiful. They're served in a cutoff kraft paper bag with the grease from the fries bleeding through in spots. I added a little salt and skipped the ketchup. Next time, I might ask if they could get them a bit browner and try a grilled sausage. As you can see from the attached shots of the menu, Pudgee's has numerous hot dog styles and sizes. Their wieners are sourced from nationally-known manufacturers. We visited at lunchtime on a weekday. There was a steady stream of customers, mostly men in outdoors attire, but a family or two, and at least one businessman. Everyone quietly waits for his order. The wait felt like fifteen or twenty minutes, but I didn't actually measure it. No one acted impatient, and most were able to find seats at one of the shaded tables. Note that there are no inside tables. Pudgee's offers a unique ambience combining a bit of soup Nazi, a lot of southern small town, zany and occasionally raunchy signage, attention to frankfurter tradition, and a clear sense of itself. Plus it's in a lovely small town entered from the east through a long colonnade of arched live oaks.

We've driven by so many times and kept saying, we have to stop one of these days, well, today was the day. Tasty hot dog, I had the footlong, coney sauce was a little on the sweet side, but I'll eat them again. Hubby had the burger, quite good too. But the fries are the star I think, hand cut with skin on, so so good. And the owners/servers are super friendly. We told them we'd be back for the food and the personality!

My husband and I drove past this place several times but never thought to stop because.....what kinda food do you want from an old looking food trailer (we are from up north of course). Can't be good. WELL...hubby went with a friend because he was curious. Well he was so excited to take me to Pudgee's. We had to split a burger because they're so big. Do not let this place fool you! OMG the best burgers and handmade fries EVER! I'm a foodie so I'm very specific with the taste buds....I swear every time we have friends from up north visiting, we take them to Pudgee's for the best burger they've ever ate and they tell other northerners, GO TO PUDGEE's
